Welcome home

Yesterday morning, I woke up very early in order to collect my brother and mom from the airport. Words just cannot explain how excited I was. So much so that the fact I had to set my alarm didn't seem so bad. I eagerly waited behind the barriers, stretching my neck as far as possible in order to catch a first glimpse of my family coming up the arrivals pathway.

During my family's little holiday to Switzerland, I'd been spending the week at home with my dad. As lovely as it was to finally have some much needed father-and-daughter time, the week felt terribly long. So finally being able to spend time with my mom and brother was brilliant.

As it was my brother's birthday whilst they were away, the family decided to have a little get-together at our house. My family is terribly small - only consisting of my immediate family, my uncle, grandfather and grandmother, so the get-together was nice, cosy and not too-overwhelming for a 'welcome home'.

My mom handed over a Switzerland shot glass and three packets of Toblerone as gifts for me. I absolutely love Toblerone! And well, my alcohol too haha. Family know me all too well and I can't wait to use it!

Introduce myself? Okay!

Hey all,

My name's Samantha (or Sam, for short, my preferable choice of name but Samantha sounded so much better for a blog name!) I'm originally from a town near Birmingham, but in less than four weeks time I will be making a very big move north-west to a seaside town in Wales for my higher education studies. I will be studying Education Studies alongside English! The majority of my next couple of posts, will more than likely, be surrounding this change of lifestyle. I'm tremendously excited however I'm still quite nervous too.

I'm eighteen years old and finally getting a feel for my feet and the ground I tread on. Since finding out that I had gained an unconditional offer from university, my maturity has kicked up a notch! Saying that, I'm sat here, on my bed writing this first post of mine; laughing at the fact that only a couple of hours earlier, me and my boyfriend were speaking in continuous rhyme, trying to make each of our sentences end in 'am'. For example: Sam, Jam (my cute nickname for my boyfriend as his name is James), lamb, bam, wham, Pam, etc. You get the picture! Haha. Anyhow, I'm pretty sure this blog will see me through an even bigger growth of maturity once I arrive at Aberystwyth on moving day.

If you keep reading, I will begin to delve a little more deeply into my life, but for now this will have to do! I'm waking up at 5am to pick my mom and brother up from the airport as they have been in Switzerland for my brother's birthday! I'm so excited to see them! Will be back with another post tomorrow I'm sure.

Until tomorrow, here's a bad quality photograph of me so you have a visual image of me for your curious minds!

Goodnight boys and girls!
